A FAMILY run business is expanding into its second premises in one of Braintree’s most idyllic locations.
Cool Beans, in Bank Street, Braintree, has announced it will be taking over the café in the Braintree and Bocking Public Gardens, on Bocking End, from February 6.
Rachel McMillan, 32, has run Cool Beans with her husband Ross, 33, since October 2015 and business is booming.
She said: “The café is in a beautiful setting and we have always tried to support the gardens in any way we can.
“It was basically our daughter’s back garden when she was young because we live on Bradford Street.
“It is a bit of a dream come true for us really.”
The new café will offer the renowned full English breakfast the company offer at the shop on Bank Street, and the couple are hoping to add ice-cream to the menu in the gardens for the summer months.
Initially the couple plan to staff the new café themselves, but would like to hire some more staff to run the venue in the near future.
Rachel said: “We are looking forward to the summer, but we are opening this winter to help ourselves find our feet.
“It is a completely different venue, it will be quieter over there but we will have events taking place in the gardens.
“We have got a bit of an issue at lunch now where it is so busy that people come in and walk straight out again – the new cafe can hopefully be an overflow for those people as well.
“We are going to be open weekends, which they do not do at the moment.”
The Gardens Coffee House, which was run by Ian and Karen Hetherington, will close on Friday.
A spokesman for the gardens thanked the couple for all their hard work and said it was both a sad and happy announcement.
